Woven identity
The “Woven Identities” photo series portrays students from Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. All students involved are from countries that used to be Dutch colonies, such as Suriname, Indonesia, and the former Antillean islands. In the photos, the students wear traditional costumes and an object with which they show their cultural heritage and identity. Through the personal stories, you will discover more about their roots and the impact of Dutch colonial history on them in the here and now. The personal portraits take you into diverse cultural backgrounds and the importance of understanding about cultural diversity in our society.
The “Woven Identities” portraits can also be seen during the Keti Koti exhibition from 19 June to 3 July at several locations.
